Location
Mińsk County is one of the largest counties in Mazovia voivodship, covering an area of 1,164 km2 with population of 144,000 people (what puts it in the 27th place in the country in terms of volume). To the west it is bordered by the nation`s capital – Warsaw. It also borders with counties: Otwock, Garwolin, Siedlce, Węgrów and Wołomin.
County`s territory include cities: Mińsk Mazowiecki i Sulejówek and communes: Cegłów, Dębe Wielkie, Dobre, Halinów, Jakubów, Kałuszyn, Latowicz, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Mrozy, Siennica, Stanisławów.
The overall area of the county is 116 435 ha, in which agricultural areas cover 80109 ha, constituting 68,8% (arable land - 57 335 ha, orchards - 1280 ha, meadows - 15207 ha, pastures - 6287 ha), forests and woodlands cover 24 837 ha, constituting 21,3% and remaining terrain of 11489 ha, constituting 09,9% of the overall area of the county.
Mińsk County is located along the Berlin-Warsaw-Moscow international route in close vicinity of the country’s capital (20 km). Across the county runs the main trunk railway Paris-Berlin-Warsaw-Moscow. The road network of the county covers 1658 km, in which 512 km of county roads of which 84% are paved roads, mostly of bituminous pavement.
There are 41 bridges on the county’s roads. The main roads of highest traffic density which are being renovated and extension of which is planned include: Mińsk Mazowiecki-Mrozy, Kałuszyn-Mrozy-Latowicz, Jędrzejów-Jakubów-Dobre, Brzeziny -Halinów - Okuniew, and the Stara Wieś-Kuflew road.
Beside roads, the county also has a well-developed infrastructure (water supply networks, sewage treatment, gas systems, power grid and telephone networks ), which creates opportunities for further development of industry, trade, processing, manufacture and construction, also in the rural areas.
